You feel this incomparable

competence in every piece: up to 40 operations are necessary to produce a single cutlery part. At the beginning stand the 'Brandel', a roughly low-cut piece of silver which does not let assume the final form of the flatware part yet. The 'Brandel' is rolled out, so that a thinner bowl or fork hand originates which is later pleasantly on your lip and gives balance to the cutlery. Then the final outline of the fork or the spoon is cut in different operations and afterwards the ruffian receives his three-dimensional form by an embossing tool. After stamping the pattern the extensive grinding and polishing begin, until finally one single cutlery part is ready.

The masters of Robbe & Berking

control the craft with the noble metal, so that all challenges which the design puts to the craft art are mastered. Particularly the model Sphinx in massive silver is to be mentioned, which is leant to the Bauhaus tradition – like some other cutleries of Robbe & Berking. A specific feature of this cutlery is the corner of 90 ° which connects the fork hand or the bowl of a spoon with the handle. This makes highest demands on the processing even of the soft material massive silver. Nevertheless, with this model you can also recognize very well what characterizes a cutlery of Robbe and Berking.

All edges which the designer

has intended are worked out precisely and permit a play with light and shade which retraces the cutlery part. An edge where the design intends it, a curvature where a curvature is meant. And nothing else. The fact that we hold the exact intention of the original design in the hands with every piece which is worked extensive, distinguishes the cutleries of Robbe & Berking. Hermitage we would like to emphasize, secondly, here. This flatware seems to punish the previous sentences of lies, indeed, only at first sight. It is produced, nevertheless, in quite different manner, than the remaining cutleries by Robbe & Berking. Originated to the 140th company jubilee of this family enterprise, every single part in the handle is handcrafted with a hammer. Thus originates typical Martelé- or also hammer blow pattern. Particularly before the background of the history of Robbe and Berking this is a hint on the beginnings of the company and the founder as a gold and silversmith. As on all cutleries of Robbe & Berking you receive on the cutleries from massive silver a postpurchase guarantee for all models up to 2040.
And, by the way, a tip from us: use your silver flatware as often as possible, the appearance of the cutleries will appreciate it. Since because the silver starts to tarnish only seldom by use, often, however, by storage - save not only time of the silver cleaning but beside enjoy your cutlery as an everyday companion.

material

sterling silver

Silver is the first metal of which cutleries were made of and the material has the reputation to possess bactericidal qualities. A sterling cutlery of massive silver is even after decades an object of great value. Depending on the execution real silver objects are not made out of pure silver, but material silver (Ag) are mixed with copper (Cu). The proportionate mass of this alloy is specified in thousandth. So the 800th silver contains 80% of silver and 20% of copper, the 925th silver – also called sterling silver – 7.5% of copper and so on. Therefore, the color of the silver also differs slightly, depending to the percentage of copper in the alloy. Mainly for optical reasons massive silver is galvanized often with a layer of pure silver. Silver is marked with the punch which refers to the punch law of the country of origin. In Germany the imperial crown and the half moon has to be beside the brand of the manufacturer together with the thousandth number as a token for the real silver. In France, however, the head of Minerva in an octagon beside the punch of the manufacture is the juridically correct sign.
