The traditional cutleries

are characterized by an excellent elaborateness and a slender appearance which makes this cutlery very handy in spite of the generous dimension, which well fits to big modern plates. Among the traditional cutleries of Ercuis the model Empire strikes out which is the only cutlery which we know decorated with two mythical swans at the end of the handle. This cutlery as nicely worked out as the rococo model Rocaille. Every line is contoured, every elevation is clearly visible.

The cutleries typical for Ercuis

are the pattern Sequoia, Brantôme and the cutlery model Paris, a design of the architect Alberto Pinto. While the model Ercuis Brantôme shows clear memories to the 17th century, the pattern Sequoia is a classical cutlery of the Art Nouveau. To both models common is the preservation of the respective style in a restrained finish and well-balanced proportions, so that they fit to all different ambiances.

Only in 2009 the pattern Paris

was originated as a design of the born as a son of Argentine parents in Casablanca and now in Paris living interior designer Alberto Pinto. Ercuis Paris is a new new interpretation of the crossed ribbons, popular in the dining culture for more than 100 years, the so-called 'Grand Ribbon'. To this model parallel an extensive series of hollowware was originated penned by Alberto Pinto which interprets the subject of the 'Grand Ribbon' in a modern way. By the way: This famous cutlery is also extremely beautiful with golden accents. Due to the great success of these three cutlery models emblematic for Ercuis, these are for a limited budget also available in silver plated, some also in stainless steel for the everyday use.

Totaling Ercuis offers a big

choice of characterful sterling-silver cutleries. To all cutleries is common the representative size with an excellent haptics and a filigree grace, fitting also to a meeting among friends as well as to representative occasions.

material

sterling silver

Silver is the first metal of which cutleries were made of and the material has the reputation to possess bactericidal qualities. A sterling cutlery of massive silver is even after decades an object of great value. Depending on the execution real silver objects are not made out of pure silver, but material silver (Ag) are mixed with copper (Cu). The proportionate mass of this alloy is specified in thousandth. So the 800th silver contains 80% of silver and 20% of copper, the 925th silver – also called Sterling Silver – 7.5% of copper and so on. Therefore, the color of the silver also differs slightly, depending to the percentage of copper in the alloy. Mainly for optical reasons massive silver is galvanized often with a layer of pure silver. Silver is marked with the punch which refers to the punch law of the country of origin. In Germany the imperial crown and the half moon has to be beside the brand of the manufacturer together with the thousandth number as a token for the real silver. In France, however, the head of Minerva in an octagon beside the punch of the manufacture is the juridically correct sign.
