Founded in 1905 as a corporate

company Bremer Silberwarenfabrik AG, BSF has produced the first half a century of her history silver cutleries sold by a reasonable price and even could expand in this business domain. In 1937 the Bremer Silberwarenfabrik (BSF) took over the hanseatic silver factory Brinkmann, Lange & Co founded in 1925 which rather was specialised in Frisian traditional patterns. The enterprise moved to Bremen-Hemelingen, a suburb of the hanseatic town Bremen where the traditional company Wilkens is located still today. In his issue from the 3rd of July, 1967 the German weekly journal 'Der Spiegel' within the scope of a report about the abrupt rise of the silver price in the USA cited the BSF. 'During three years the silver (4-part) menu set "Noblesse" of the Bremer Silberwarenfabrik AG (BSF) cost 360 Mark'. The pattern Noblesse one of the historical patterns buried in oblivion Der Spiegel cited this pattern as apparently the most popular massive silver cutlery of that time – it was made only massive. And BSF was always a little bit in the shade of the big sister M. H. Wilkens & sons from Bremen. Two years later the BSF merged with the Wilkens & Söhne AG to the 'Wilkens Bremer Silberwaren AG'. From now on the brand was continued by Wilkens for cutleries in the budget stainless steel make. In 1995 both brands were taken over from Zwilling J. A. Henckels from Solingen. While Wilkens & Söhne in Bremen again is independent today, the brand BSF is under the umbrella of Zwilling J. A. Henckels company group and profits from the production facilities of the big group which maintains worldwide production plants: in Europe, also in China, Japan and India.

In addition to the traditional

patterns of BSF mostly produces trendy, modern and inexpensive patterns. With some models, like the cutlery BSF Chiaro matt or Quest poliert the stylistic nearness to the stainless steel cutleries of Wilkens is still visible since these were created nearly at the same time in Bremen. And also traditional patterns linked to the big tradition of BSF mustn't be forgotten: The Klassisch Faden and the cutlery Ostfriesen, as they are already made since the early days of the company in Bremen. But the majority of the cutlery models are young, uncomplicated patterns for everyday or kitchen use which fit by their pricing also for the first own household. Vision, Swing and Cult poliert to name but a few are constantly in stock as inexpensive menu-sets. But there are regularly additions to the product line: The 'Italian' series Catania, Sienna and Genua since the outset enjoy great popularity. And also the cutleries in the higher-quality cutleries of BSF were complemented with a new pattern: Ferrara, baptized after the Italian town, goes back to the tradition of the high-quality cutleries of BSF and attracts even clients with higher demands. The prevailing number of the favorably priced cutlery patterns is available merely in assembled sets, like a cutlery set 68-part or a menu set 30-part. Additional parts are not deliverable. However, mostly this meets the wishes.

And for further demands for equipment: The

traditional cutlery Ostfriesen and the household series Melody, are widely expanded and many special individual parts can be acquired for dinner table or kitchen beyond the usual cutlery parts. The cutlery assortment of BSF has become so popular just by his clarity and straightness.

material

stainless

Stainless steel of home products is an alloy of steel, chrome and nickel which is dishwasher safe and resistant to corrosion by light organic and inorganic acids and water. To the cleaned steel the elements chrome (Cr) and nickel (Ni) are added and provide the corrosion resistance and the softer shine which can be noticed on closer inspection. High-grade steel - stainless steel can also contain other elements like molybdenum, vanadium and other more, however, common 18/10 steels with 18% of chrome and 10% of nickel is very popular. For low demands 18/0 steel is offered which contains no nickel and is notably less corrosion-resistant  and shining.
